ORIGINAL SOURCE MOUNTAIN MAYHEM 2009 - THE MOST MAYHEM YET

Original Source Mountain Mayhem, the UK’s toughest mountain bike endurance event, wrapped up yesterday following a weekend of mud, adrenaline, muscle cramps and, mostly, sunshine.

The event, which saw 12,040 laps and over 105,350 miles covered throughout the course of the 24-hour race, came to an exhilarating close at 2pm on Sunday, with riders pushing the boundaries to complete the final nine-mile circuit.

organiser, Patrick Adams.Speaking after the race close Patrick said: “There are many components that put the event together and this year has really been amazing. Riders, spectators, ambulance teams, our headline sponsors, Original Source; it’s been a huge team effort and a fantastic event. We want to be back even bigger and better next year.”

The event, held at Eastnor Castle, Deer Park, Ledbury, saw 2,351 riders compete across the nine-mile circuit in teams of up to ten or as solo riders, while a 15,000 strong crowd of spectators stormed the grounds to cheer the riders on through the mud.

In

Team Bicycle Doctor had no fewer than four teams at the event and over the weekend posted some excellant lap times with the quickest lap going to Adrian Jeremiah in a time of 00:53:25 Our Main aim was to raise money for the Childrens Bristol Childrens hospital and with over £1500 raised money is still coming in!! Wel keep you posted on the finall amount raised

Caersws Cup rd2 0910/01/09

Another great weekend with great weather bit of rain later on into saturday but just dampened the dust making perfect conditons. Many people were criticising the track saying it was too straight but i found the track really fast and great fun with some big jumps brilliant. On the sunday was very warm no rain it was brill. I had two very good runs on the sunday, i was placed 11th after my first run which i then tooped too move into the top ten and ending up ninth which i aws very pleased and happy with. The talent which was in this race was amzzing so i was very pleased to finish ninth in this sort of field with so many riders. Brill weekend and hope to finish better in rd 3 and hopefully get into the top sixth cheers.

Nps Ae forest

The track this weekend was stunning, towaards the end of saturday practice the track was in mint condition but once practice had finished the heavans opened and we had loads of rain and the track was very slipppery and slick on the sunday, throughout the day the track was becoming dryer and dryer. My seeding run wasn't what i was hoping for as i caught the rider in front of me and had to try and pass him. After having a ok race run i ended up in 19th which wasn't the position i was hoping for but was a good start to the season and hope to improve on that in the next few races.

Taff Buggy Round 1

13/03/2009 Report By Leon Rosser

was little damp and windy at the start of sat morn practise with signs of brightening up as the day went on. with the wind eventually drying the track out, by the Sunday the sun had come out which made for an even faster track,

they have a new track at taff buggy, with only a little of the old track in the new course. everyone liked the changes a little pedally in places but was happy ,and with the weather being good all weekend long. made it even better as for results .

myself taking the win in the expert cat and second overall fastest time on the day , and Jordan Clifford taken his first podium with a 3rd place well done jord. the fastest time of the day went to Dan standbrigde (mojo/fox)in the elite cat. with an outstanding ride. that coming back from a shoulder injury too boot.

all in all a good weekend racing. i look forward to the next.

Rhys Thomas, Wentwood DH. 2009

01/03/2009 WDMBA DH SERIES

hey,

Firts race off the season. started off at wentwood which isn't to bad of a track had some real nice flow with berms n floating jumps. Got a good start to the season with a 5th position in my caterorgy and 28th overall out of a field of 172 riders.

The track was nice and dry but not to dry as it was abit slippery in part and moist in others which gave alot of grip. The top of the track was relly flowy with a few berms running into small kickers which led onto a drop with tight corners before it and a few people were missing that out because the line in was so tight, but if you hit the drop with enough speed youd land in a berm which then you would get a lot of speed going into the next coner. After that was two doubles the first one i could not clear properly in practise as there was a change on the track last minute which went up a sleep of camber coner, but after a few runs was nailing it and pinning it over the doubles.

I was expecting the bottom of the track to be quite slippery and loose, but from the dry weather it became pretty dry and had al ot of grip. There was one line all the way down the bottom sections were every body was riding but i tried to stay out of that cause it started getting some big braking bumps in it.

Overall im happy with my result but feel asif i could improve quiet a bit form it and will be trying my best for another top 10 finish in Rheola, or even a top 5 finish again but if i do it better be on the podium this time

Devon Griffiths finished a respectfull 115th place.

Thanks

Rhys Thomas
