KONA MASH UP!
Over 350 competitors made their way to the first ever Kona Mash-Up and joined the relaxed atmosphere on the trails surrounding the Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre in Afan Forest. The event was blessed with sunshine and dry weather, which all added to the festival-feeling atmosphere out on the hillside. This relaxed style race day was the first ever of its kind, with a format of 7 different timed sections, and chill-outs between each run.
Team Bicycle Doctor was represented by, Darren Bowden and Adrian Jeremiah, who entered the “Enduro” category and finished 17th and 25th overall respectively, with Darren Bowden achieving a top ten finish on the “Jet Lag” section on the final downhill timed section.
Chicksands - Race Report by Rob Williams
After getting up at 4am but feeling more like 3am due to the hour change Leon Rosser and myself (Rob Williams) of Team Bicycle Doctor headed up to Chicksands Bike Park in Bedford for the first Downhill race of the season. It was billed as a fun race with a track of around a minute and only 171riders, however after riding the track for the first time it was a shock to cross the finnish after 15 corners and 1 drop into a jump. But not to worry, the sun was shining and we were having fun riding the short but sweet race track and the hundreds of other features including 4cross tracks and jumps that the bikepark has to offer.
Racing started with the track still slippery and after the first two runs Leon was in 2nd place in the Pro Catergory and 2nd Place overall and I was in 3rd Place in Senior and 15th overall. Final runs and we both wanted to podium on the drying track, i came down the hill and was 0.1 seconds off 3rd with a time of 33.382secs and ended up 4th in Senior and 16th overall. Then Leon in the Pro Catergory flew down the track in 31.401secs and consolidated his 2nd place in Pro and 2nd Overall. All in all it was a good start to the season for Team Bicycle Doctor.

Caersws Cup - Round One
Caersws, Nr Newtown
18th March 2008
The Caersws downhill Cup is a three event series for new and upcoming riders to cut their teeth and gain experience of Downhill racing. Race organiser Chris Roberts said, "Caersws is the perfect venue for this series, the best uplift means more time riding and exciting courses makes for exciting racing. There is already a good entry of new and older riders on the start list."
Despite the bad weather the course was excellent. It took a steep route down onto the fire road; a long pedal down the track, over the first jump then either the step up was the fast line, or choosing the safe route around and losing a lot of speed to roll up. Back into the woods once again, over the fire road crossing and into the final section; used in nearly every race at Caersws the off camber roots and tricky 180 corner spat out many a rider, its then just down into the field and foot out flat out as you control the slide on a bed of super sloppy mud and across the finish line hopefully in one piece.
Team Bicycle Doctor kicked off the season with riders taking some good results in the difficult conditions. Expert Rider Leon Rosser finished 8th place on his new Kona Race Bike with a time of 2min 41.
Senior Rider Chris Bevan came home in 36th place and did well whilst riding with an injury.
New team member and Master Rider Mark Jenkins finished in 24th place.
Junior Rider Adam Wilks managed 26th place in a very competitive category which consisted of some of the UK’s top riders with a time of 3mins.
Jack Smith finished an excellent 22nd after crashing just yards from the finish line.
The next Race is at the popular Cwmcarn Venue on the 5th and 6th of April and will make excellent spectating for all the family. More information can be found on www.teambicycledoctor.com
The Tredz Downtown Race is over. It brought Penarth to a standstill on Sunday as hundreds of riders hit the streets of Penarth
The weather played nice and the crowds enjoyed a great day of racing. With the action, particularly toward the end, becoming really intense. Split seconds were all that separated most of the winners and taking the wrong line for a fraction of a second could mean the difference between
Team Bicycle Doctor riders did well , Leon Rosser (Expert) just missed out on the podium finishing in 4th place, Rob Willimas also finishing 4th and Chris Bevan came home in 41st
place.
Juvenile Rider Jordan Clift came home in 13th,
Youth Riders Adam Wilks and JAck Smith both happy with their finishes 18th and 26th.
